Lynchburg won their eighth game in nine contests with a 6-1 win over Frederick on Tuesday night at Harry Grove Stadium. The Hillcats go for the series sweep on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Frederick.

The Hillcats took a two-run lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Miles Durham scored on a wild pitch and then Kris Watts followed him home on a two-out RBI single to make it a 2-0 game.

It stayed that way until the seventh inning when the Cats plated another run. After getting hit with a pitch, Kris Watts moved to third on a throwing error and then scored on a wild pitch to give the Cats a three-run lead.

The Keys would finally get on the board in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Robbie Widlansky to pull Frederick within a pair at 3-1. But Chris Cullen escaped the jam with no more damage and preserved a two-run lead.

In the top of the ninth inning Lynchburg busted thing open with three more runs. Jared Keel brought in the first run of the frame with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1. Kent Sakamoto followed with a two-run homer out to left to push the lead to five at 6-1.

That would prove to be the final thanks to a scoreless ninth inning by R.J. Rodriguez. Matt McSwain (6-1) got his sixth straight win for Lynchburg (34-17) by allowing just one run in six and 1/3 innings of work. The Hillcats are now a season-best 17 games over .500 and have won eight of their last nine games. Starter Zach Britton (2-2) took the loss for Frederick (25-27).

The Cats go for the series sweep on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Harry Grove Stadium. Left-hander Justin Wilson (3-3, 6.18) will get the start for the Green & Gold opposite lefty Nate Nery (0-2, 4.03) for Frederick.
