Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats will honor the 500,000th at LaGrave Field sometime this week. The ballpark opened in 2002 and the Cats have led the Central Baseball League in attendance each season by averaging 157,000 fans a year over that three-year period. So far, LaGrave Field has had close to 497,000 fans come through the turnstiles. The 500,000th fan should enter the ballpark on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening when the Cats face the Jackson Senators at 7:05 p.m.
The Cats will give the lucky fan autographed baseballs from Cats' legends Duke Snider, Sparky Anderson, Maury Wills and Bobby Bragan. The 500,000th fan through the turnstiles will also receive a Cats jersey, a team autographed bat, tickets to the remaining weekend games, a lifetime minor league gold pass and a goodie bag of items from team sponsors.
LaGrave Field was the home of the Fort Worth Cats from 1926-1964. The Cats were gone almost 40 years when current owner Carl Bell had the idea of bringing minor league baseball back to Fort Worth.
