Aviators split double header with Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas – The Coastal Bend Aviators split a double header with the Edinburg Roadrunners on Monday night. Edinburg won game one 6-5 while the Aviators took game two 12-7.

Game one was a continuation of a game that was suspended because of rain on May 8th in Robstown. The game was picked up in the top of the second inning and Edinburg batting with two outs.

Eric Gonzalez had a two-run homerun in the top of the eighth inning making the score 6-4.

Stephen Morales hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning but the Aviators fell short in the game.

Dan Valentine got the win for Edinburg in game one. Steve Wilkerson picked up his third save in game one as well. Dan Henderson (1-1) took the loss for the Aviators in game one.

In game two the Aviators scored five runs in the third inning to break the game open. Angel Rohena had a three-run homer in the inning for the Aviators.

Matt Mann added a three-run homerun in the seventh inning for the Aviators.

Matt Rohr (2-1) picked up the win in game two for the Aviators. Eric Montoya (1-1) was the losing pitcher in game two.

The Aviators begin a three-game series at San Angelo Tuesday night at 7:05. The Aviators return home on May 31st to take on Pensacola in a three-game series.
