Moncton Wildcats News Release

Sunday's Rivalry Cup has many specials::

As if the intense rivalry between the Wildcats and Saint John Sea Dogs is not enough to spur special interest and fan support for Sunday afternoon's 4 o'clock game at the Coliseum, there are a number of special events planned.

As a special Christmas gift, Mortgage Maker Inc through the Military Resource Centre are providing game tickets for members of the Military and their families.

Members of the Moncton Firefighters, who recently won the World Combat Challenge will be in attendance, providing us with the opportunity to thank and salute them.

Following the game, Season Ticket Holders and members of the Kiddy Kats Club will get their chance to "Skate with the Cats."

There are other things in the works. Look for a big announcement tomorrow regarding several large prizes which fans will be able to win through Scoro. Buy a 50/50 ticket for a chance to win.

The Wildcats will want to put an end to the Sea Dogs winning streak, so you're assured of great hockey and a chance for the Wildcats to win Rivalry Cup points.

Currently in the new Rivalry Cup format, the Sea Dogs lead the Wildcats by 3.5 points. To be sure you have tickets call the Box Office at 857-4100 and reserve yours.

Wildtown Moment:

Take a moment and you could win a Wildtown T-Shirt. Simply answer this question: Which Moncton Wildcat has been invited to the Team Canada Junior team tryout in Regina starting on December 12th? Send your answer by midnight tonight to info@monctonwildcats.com. We'll pick a winner, you'll get the T-Shirt and we'll announce your name in the Coffee Cup Thursday.

Bids are building for Art on Ice displays:

Be sure to check out the great Art on Ice display when you're at Sunday's game. You'll find it on the mezzanine level across from the concessions. Fans have already started serious bidding on the Art works which have been created by elementary students from the five Community schools in District 2 and supported by the Wildcats. Funds raised by the silent auction will go to the Breakfast program at the school along with various other important projects. See the great creativity of the children at Assumption Place and the Blue Cross Atrium in downtown Moncton.. The display and bidding will be at the Coliseum up to and including the second big Rivalry Cup game on December 31st. Check out the Art on Ice pieces on our website, go to: http://www.moncton-wildcats.com/en-ca/community/art-on-ice.php .

Give a Wild Willie doll this Christmas:

They've been described a "cut and cuddly" and they are - the new Wild Willie dolls arrived at the Roar Store last week and they're selling fast. They're another ideal Christmas gift for the little people on your list. Also check out the Wildcats blankets, they're new for this season. It's one of the most creative Christmas gifts ever. Roar Store hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 to 2 and special Saturday hours of 11 to 4 right up to Christmas.

The Holiday 6 Pack is loaded with value. 6 student tickets are priced at only $55.75 plus tax and 6 adult tickets are selling for $76.99 plus tax with 2 BOGO bonus coupons for the New Years Eve game.

Player of the Game:

Matt Brown will be the player of the game on Sunday for the big Rivalry Cup game against the Sea Dogs. The Truro, Nova Scotia native is in his third year with the Wildcats. He was picked in the first round of the 2007 QMJHL draft and has become a great two way player. The Booster Club will be selling tickets on Matt's jersey during the game, buy your tickets at the Booster Club booth.

Cat of the Day:

Hats off to local area snow plow drivers, who handled the first winter storm in fine fashion this weekend. By the time the Wildcats returned from their win in Cape Breton on Sunday, the streets were clear and some kind soul lifted the windshield wipers and cleaned the windshields on all the players cars parked behind the Coliseum.

Quote of the Day:

"Happiness is the only good. The time to be happy is now. The place to be happy is here. The way to be happy is to make others so." Robert Green Ingersoll 1833-1899, American Orator, Lawyer
