Full Daily practice as season nears:
Two hour practice sessions are now the order of the day for the Moncton Wildcats as the 2009-2010 season gets closer. The coaching staff will be putting the 28 remaining players through daily workouts from 11am to 1pm. The public is invited to watch the sessions at the 4-Plex.
The Wildcats have two exhibition games left in the preseason, both with be played on Prince Edward Island. The Charlottetown Civic Centre is the location for Friday's game with the team moving to the Community Sports Centre in O'Leary for the final game. 7 o'clock is the start time for both games.
Interest in Season Tickets increasing:
With the Wildcats expected to have one of the top teams in the Q and with September here, interest and purchase of Wildcats season tickets is growing each day. The Cats start the run of the Presidents Cup on the road. They're at the Charlottetown Civic Centre on September 11th and then meet provincial rivals, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre on the 13th.
The 2009-2010 Home Opening Weekend is just a little over two weeks away. Season Flex Pack holders can pick them up at the Wildcats office from 10am to 6 pm daily. If you have your season seat, the date for pickup is September 9th. You can purchase a Season Seat ticket or Flex Pack at the Cats office daily Monday to Friday. Single game tickets go on sale starting September 5th.
Main Street site of Cats Cup:
Six temporary rinks will change the look of Moncton's Main Street between Lutz and Church Street on Saturday, September 19th for the annual Cats Cup.
From 9am to noon, 72 aspiring NHLers between the ages of 5 to 10 in three different age groups will battle in the Downtown Road Hockey Challenge as part the Wildcats Home Opening Weekend. Special guests will be on hand for the official puck-drop will kick off the championship game.
Registration forms are now available in the Times&Transcript, L'Etoile or on the Wildcats website at www.moncton-wildcats.com. The forms can be mailed or dropped off at the offices of Downtown Moncton Centre-ville, 910 Main Street, Suite 103, Moncton, NB E1C 1G6 up to September 15th. The winners will be announced on Thursday, September 17th in the sports section of the Times&Transcript and on the Cats website.
Cat of the Day:
Brandon Gormley made his first appearance at the Wildcats training camp on Monday. The first round draft pick of the Wildcats in 2008 had time off after helping Canada's Under-18 team capture the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka tournament last month. Gormley was an assistant captain with the team and was twice named player of the game. The PEI native is expected to be a high round NHL draft pick next year.
