
Catfish Take Second Straight from Rome, 7-4

Columbus, GA - The Catfish (34-28) took the second straight game from the Rome Braves (39-23) Saturday, this time by a score of 7-4. RF Sergio Pedroza went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, his 14th of the season, and a double. RHP Matt Gomez de Segura topped off the win with two shutout endings to pick up his first save. He gave up one hit and one walk while striking out six Rome batters.
The Catfish were held scoreless until the fifth inning. Losing 4-0, C Juan Apodaca singled to lead off the inning. After two outs were recorded SS Ivan DeJesus singled to put runners on the corners. RF Sergio Pedroza followed with a three-run blast to left field. It was his 14th home run of the season, pulling him into a three-way tie for the league lead. Pedroza also boosted his league-leading RBI total to 52.
Down 4-3 in the seventh inning Columbus used three hits and four walks to score four runs and take a 7-4 lead. LF Drew Locke walked with the bases loaded to score a run. DeJesus later scored on a wild pitch. The last two runs scored on a single by 1B Jason Mooneyham.
The winning pitcher was RHP Arismendy Castillo (4-1), who tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings. RHP Pedro Rayo (0-1) took the loss after giving up four runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Mooneyham did a bit of everything, including going 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a walk. He also swiped his second base of the season and made a fine diving stop with two runners on base and two out in the Rome half of the seventh inning.
