Des Moines, IA - The Chicago Cubs have activated Welington Castillo and Marquez Smith from the disabled list and added them to the Iowa Cubs active roster. The pair will re-join the team tomorrow night in Tacoma. Steve Clevenger and Jonathan Mota have been reassigned to double-A Tennessee. In an unrelated move, Dave Bush opted out of his contract and is now a free agent.
Castillo has been out since July 28 with a hamstring strain. He played in a rookie-level game on rehab in Arizona yesterday and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Castillo is batting .315 with 15 home runs and 35 RBI in 53 games with Iowa this year. He began the year with high-A Daytona and hit .238 with a homer and seven RBI in 12 games there before joining the I-Cubs on April 21. He also had a stint in Chicago from May 11-30 and was 2-for-13 over four games. Castillo represented the I-Cubs in the Triple-A All-Star Game and has already set a career-high with 16 homers this year.
Smith has been on the disabled list since June 26 after injuring his left hand while fouling off a pitch. Smith is batting .283 with six homers, 31 RBI, and 15 doubles in 66 games with Iowa this year. He went 1-for-4, stole a base, and scored a run in his rehab game with rookie level Arizona yesterday.
Clevenger has batted .407 with three homers and 15 RBI in 25 games over two stints with Iowa. During this most recent stint, he batted .387 with two doubles and six RBI, including a walk-off last Saturday, in 10 games. Mota has batted .289 with five homers, a career-high, and 30 RBI in 77 games with the I-Cubs this year.

He began the season with the Texas Rangers and was 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 17 games (three starts) before getting designated for assignment on July 1.
