Modesto, C.A. - Ryan Castellani's career night led the Modesto Nuts to a 3-0 victory over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

Castellani (W, 1-1) struck out a career-high ten over eight innings to help the Nuts (10-15) to their first shutout victory of the season. The righty allowed just one single to open the fourth. He walked only one and no one advanced past first against him. He struck out six in a row from the end of the sixth through the first out in the eighth.

Michael Kelley (L, 0-3) started for the Storm (11-15) and was damaged by a key defensive miscue. With the bases loaded and two outs, Emerson Jimenez rolled a groundball to second that snuck through the legs of Luis Urias leading to two runs coming across. In the first, the Nuts pulled another double steal to bring Forrest Wall to the plate.

Luis Niebla (S, 2/) allowed the first two baserunners to reach in the ninth, but after the tying run reached the plate, the righty retired the next three in order to polish off the win for the Nuts.

Game three of the four-game set with the Storm is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:00 p.m. Listen live online.
