Lancaster JetHawks News Release

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Richard Gonzalez had three hits, including his first home run of the season, as the JetHawks evened the series with a 4-2 victory over the Inland Empire 66ers on Tuesday night at San Manuel Stadium.

The long ball for the 22-year-old Gonzalez was the third of his career. It gave the JetHawks a big insurance run in the top of the ninth inning.

The 66ers (6-20) jumped in front early with a run in the opening inning against JetHawks (9-14) starter Dean Deetz. It came on an RBI single by Caleb Adams.

The hit, however, turned out to be the only one Deetz (2-0) allowed in five innings of work. The right-hander surrendered two runs, walked two, and struck out four.

Lancaster responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second. With one out, Alejandro Garcia walked and scored from first base on Jamie Ritchie's RBI double after taking off on the pitch. Ritchie advanced to third on a wild pitch and Kristian Trompiz brought him home with an RBI single.

After the 66ers tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth, the JetHawks again responded right away. Nick Tanielu delivered a two-out RBI single to put Lancaster in front for good, one of his three hits on the night. It was his team-leading 14th run batted in this season.

Andrew Walter, who was recently activated from the disabled list, pitched a scoreless sixth inning out of the Lancaster bullpen. It was his first official appearance of the season. The only other time he pitched came in a suspended game in San Jose back in April.

Rogelio Armenteros tossed the final three innings to earn his first save of the season, striking out three.

The JetHawks and 66ers continue their four-game series tomorrow night in San Bernardino. Joshua James (1-1) will start for Lancaster against Alex Klonowski (1-4). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.

The JetHawks are celebrating their 20th anniversary season in Lancaster. Great ticket packages and group events are on sale now at jethawks.com or by calling (661) 726-5400.
