Cary Invasion News Release
Fayetteville, NC: Coming in on the heels of a record-breaking 177-point performance the night before, a couple of big wins, and a mathematical shot at winning the TRBL point series, the Fayetteville Crossover stepped on to their home court as the team no one wanted to face. For three quarters, the streak looked like it was going to stay alive. Point blank misses and turnovers from the visitors helped the Crossover cause. The game was played tight throughout the first half, with neither team getting a lead of more than a couple of possessions. The Invasion led at the break 49-46.
The Crossover looked to begin to take control late in the third quarter, leading 70 to 69 heading into the final period. But that final period would belong to Cary. Invasion forward Jonathan Moore willed in several early-period buckets to start a 20 to 15 run that the home team could not overcome. The final score was Cary 106, Fayetteville 95. Jonathan Moore (NCCU) had 19 points for the Invasion. Seven Invasion players scored in double figures. John Humphreys had 20 points for the Crossover. With the win, Cary secures a first round home playoff game and can finish no lower than second in the 2012 TRBL point standings.
