Cary RailHawks U-23 defeat Burnley FC 2-1

Cary, NC (Thursday, July 10th, 2008) - In a classic David versus Goliath match the Cary RailHawks U-23 PDL team defeated Burnley FC of England's Coca Cola Championship division 2-1 with goals by Zach Schilawski and Tyler Lassiter for the Cary RailHawks and Wade Elliott for the English side. After a scoreless first half the Burnley Clarets scored first in the 54th minute with a midfield breakaway for Elliott who beat three defenders to slot the ball past Wake Forest and Cary RailHawks goalie Akira Fitzgerald. The Cary RailHawks and Cary's own Zach Schilawski responded two minutes later with an unassisted tally off of an error from Burnley defender Graham Alexander. Tyler Lassiter sealed the deal with a beautiful diagonal rocket the top left corner of the 18 yard box to fix the result at 2-1

The Cary RailHawksU-23 return to PDL action on July 17th as they host the Atlanta Silverbacks PDL team at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:00 PM. The RailHawks USL-1 team is on the road this week as they travel to Minnesota on July 11th and Vancouver on July 13th. All Carolina RailHawks matches can be seen on www.USLLive.com.
