WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added to their coaching staff by naming 30-year coaching veteran Kit Cartwright as their Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach.

Cartwright spent last season as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Depauw University. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Butler University from 2002 until 2005 after serving as their offensive coordinator for four seasons.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Cartwright has helped develop some prominent players at the collegiate level including being credited with recruiting and coaching three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady while he coached at Michigan. He also coached a host of other collegiate players who went on to the pro ranks including Brian Griese (Michigan), Rod Woodson (Purdue) and Amani Toomer (Michigan).

"Kit Cartwright brings a wealth of experience from his time at the U.S. college level," said Bombers head coach Doug Berry. "He has worked with and developed some great quarterbacks in the past and we are pleased that he has agreed to join our coaching staff."

The 53-year old began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo before moving on to the defensive coordinator position at Ohio Wesleyan. He went on to serve as an assistant at Penn State, Bowling Green and Purdue. He then took the offensive coordinator post at Eastern Illinois in 1987 and after two seasons, he moved on to coach at Colorado State as a quarterbacks coach.

After a two-year stint with the Rams, Cartwright joined Ball State as their offensive coordinator and QBs coach for a season. He then worked with the Michigan Wolverines from 1994-95 as the quarterbacks and receivers coach before moving on to Indiana University as the passing game coordinator. In 1998 he began coaching at Butler University.

"Kit Cartwright is a devoted football guy who has spent time coaching at a high level," Blue Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman said. "He has great experience and we are excited for him to work with Kevin (Glenn) and our other quarterbacks this season."

Cartwright received a bachelor's degree in 1976. He resides in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife Dawn and is the proud father of three children: Michael (25), Kelly (21), and Kristy (18).
