Carter named AFL ADT Defensive Player of the Week

Las Vegas, NV, February 15, 2005 – Las Vegas Gladiators' fullback/linebacker and the Arena Football League's leader in sacks, Frank Carter, was named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week today for his efforts in leading the Gladiators to a 41-37 win over the New York Dragons on Friday in Las Vegas.

A four-year veteran of the Arena Football League, Carter (6'2" 260, MacMurray College) set a new Gladiator record by sacking New York Dragons quarterback Aaron Garcia three times in the Gladiators win. The three sacks came on consecutive plays in the first half. This marks the first time that the he has earned an AFL weekly honor.

On the season, Carter has 4.5 sacks to lead the League and 6.5 total tackles in three games. On offense, he has carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards with three touchdowns.

Along with Carter, other players receiving league recognition for their play in week three were New Orleans VooDoo quarterback Andy Kelly, who was named Offensive Player of the Week and Orlando Predators FB/LB Idris Price, who was named U.S. Army Ironman of the Week.

The Gladiators are back home this Sunday, February 20, against the Georgia Force.
