Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2005) â Fullback/Linebacker Idris Price, whose outstanding play on both sides of the ball spearheaded Orlando's 61-46 win over Tampa Bay, was honored today by the Arena Football League as the "US Army Ironman of the Week."
Price posted perhaps the top game of his brief career. On offense, he led the Predators in rushing â gaining 13 yards and scoring touchdowns on a pair of second half runs. His 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter put the Predators in front 33-24, and his 1-yard touchdown romp in the 4th quarter gave Orlando a 54-31 lead. On defense, Price recorded five solo tackles, including a pair of back-to-back quarterback sacks in the third quarter that stopped a Tampa drive. His five solo tackles were the most by a Predators linebacker this season.
"Idris has played well all season long and is certainly deserving of this honor," Orlando Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden said. "A year ago, he was a pretty raw rookie who really didn't have a grasp of our system. He came in this year, had a great training camp and just continues to improve every week."
Price is coming off back-to-back solid games. Two weeks ago against Arizona, he rushed for a game-high 39 yards, scored two touchdowns and recorded one tackle.
The award marked the third consecutive week a Predators player won one of AFL's three major weekly awards. In a Week 1 win over Colorado, WR/LB Cory Fleming won the "US Army Ironman of the Week" and in a Week 2 win over Arizona, Damon Mason was selected the "ADT Defensive Player of the Week."
The 3-0 Orlando Predators return to action Thursday night road game against the Dallas Desperados. That game will be televised throughout the state of Florida on Sun Sports (formerly Sunshine Network). Kickoff is 8:30 p.m. from American Airlines Arena.
