San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---Trey Carter smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth before Colts closer Sean Kramer came on in the ninth to slam the door as San Angelo salvaged a split of a four games series with the Rio Grande Valley White Wings with a 7-6 win at Foster Field Thursday night.

Rio got on the board first in the top of the second inning with a two run single by Wilmer Pino and took a 3-0 lead in the third when Edgar Trejo (9) hit a solo home run.

Cory Patton responded with a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the third, before the Colts broke out for a five run fourth. With one out in the inning the Colts recorded seven straight hits, including RBIs from Danny Hernandez, Ronnie Gaines, Daryl Jones and Clay Calfee. For Gaines, it was his 72nd run batted in of the season to set a new career high.

The White Wings chipped away with a run in the fifth. And in the top of the sixth inning, after fouling a pitch off his knee, David Peralta scorched a two-run double to the right-center field wall that brought in two runs.

Colts starter Logan Williamson went into the game looking for his league-leading 11th win, but took a no decision after allowing four earned runs on eight hits in five innings pitched. Chase Davenport started for the White Wings and gave up six earned runs in three and a third innings.

Patton (2-0, 3.94) was the winning pitcher in relief, while Julio Santana (3-4, 5.04) took the loss for the White Wings. Kramer earned his 12th save of the season. With the series split San Angelo kept its three game lead on Rio.
