Zebulon, NC --- Donnie Bridges and two relievers combined on a three-hit shutout as Carolina defeated Orlando in their series opener 8-0 at Five County Stadium on Monday night.

Bridges (W, 3-1, 5IP, 1H, 0R, 4W, 5K) earned his first win as a starter in his third attempt, limiting the Rays (18-25) to a bloop single in five frames. Marty McLeary (ND, 3IP, 1H, 0R, 1W, 4K) worked the next three innings on one hit, then surrendered to Mike Flannery (ND, 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0W, 1K) to close out the win.
