
Carolina RailHawks to Host Mexican Soccer Stalwarts

The Carolina RailHawks announced Tuesday the addition of an exhibition game to their schedule. The RailHawks will face Mexican soccer legends Club Deportivo Cruz Azul on Wednesday, July 25th at 8:00 PM at SAS Soccer Park in Cary.
Club Deportivo Social y Cultural Cruz Azul is a popular Mexican professional football club. Cruz Azul plays in the Primera División de México and its home venue is the Estadio Azul, located in the Southwestern part of Mexico City. Traditionally one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Mexico, Cruz Azul was founded as an amateur team on May 22nd, 1927 by the workers of the cement makers Cemento Cruz Azul, located in the town of Jasso, Hidalgo. Cruz Azul was also the first (and still only) Mexican club to reach the final of the Copa Libertadores where they lost in penalties to Argentine soccer giants Boca Juniors.
Tickets for this event will go on sale on Friday, June 22nd at 10:00 AM, with a pre-sale for season ticket holders starting Tuesday June 19th. Fans may purchase individual tickets at the box office at SAS Soccer Park, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, at any Ticketmaster outlet or by calling 834-4000. Ticket prices for this event are $15 for spectator seats, $20 for premium and $25 for club seats with an additional $2 added on the day of the game. For more information on tickets call 859-5425.
The Carolina RailHawks are a United Soccer Leagues expansion team that entered the USL First Division in April 2007. The squad will play 14 regular season home games and four additional home playoff and exhibition games each year, with all home games played at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Under Rochester Rhinos co-owner and USL Hall of Fame inductee Chris Economides, the RailHawks organization was formed in October 2005 and awarded the USL franchise in January 2006.
