
Carolina RailHawks Partner with the Magnificent Mile on October 1st

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 29, 2010)=AFSarah Roberts-Witt, founder and inspiration behind The Magnificent Mile Race (www.magmilerace.com), thanks the Capital Area Soccer League and the Carolina RailHawks for aiding in the fight against motor neuron disease. The RailHawks and CASL are dedicating the October 1st CASL Night game against the Austin Aztex to The Magnificent Mile and the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for rare upper motor neuron disorders.
On Friday, $2 of each $10 CASL ticket sold will benefit the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation's research fund. Multiple purchase options, including group offerings, are available at http://www.carolinarailhawks.com/casl. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office on game night by mentioning "CASL".
In addition, Roberts-Witt will be honored at half-time. "I am so grateful to CASL and the RailHawks and excited to get on the pitch," says Roberts-Witt. "This honor makes the success we had with this year's Magnificent Mile Race that much sweeter."
A record 1,203 participants turned out on September 19, 2010, for The 5th Annual Magnificent Mile Race. This year's attendance marked a 50 percent increase from 2009. In addition, more than $51,000 was raised in support of the SPF. CASL CEO Charlie Slagle played a prominent role in this year's event as well. He challenged all CASL players, parents, coaches, and staff to "Beat the Old Man" and raced in the competitive mile. Slagle ran an age-adjusted time of 7:21.
