North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC (May 16, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks are pleased to announce the signing of Dzenan Catic on loan from Philadelphia Union as RailHawks goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre remains on loan for the Union.
"We are thrilled to have Dzenan join the team. He is an ambitious player who wants to grow his game," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clark. "Dzenan will bring a lot of versatility to the team."
Catic was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina and started his playing career with the youth team of German side FC Kaiserslautern. After spending a year with the club, he moved to the United States and played soccer for Davenport University at the Division 2 level. Catic joined USL PDL club Michigan Bucks while at Davenport University and scored 16 goals in 14 appearances during their 2014 season. Catic was selected by MLS' Philadelphia Union as the 31st overall pickof the 2015 Superdraft and was later loaned out to Harrisburg City Islanders.
He now joins the RailHawks and will look to provide Colin Clarke with some more attacking options up front.
The RailHawks roster is now comprised of 27 players: three goalkeepers (Hunter Gilstrap, Brian Sylvestre, and Matt Perrella), eight defenders (Connor Tobin, Daniel Scott, Austen King, Kupono Low, Mamadou Danso, Wes Knight, Blake Wagner, and DJ Mason), ten midfielders (Nazmi Albadawi, Tiyi Shipalane, Leo Osaki, Neil Hlavaty, Mark Anderson, Austin da Luz, Chris Nurse, Jack Coleman, Jamie Dell and Matthew Gianfortone) and six forwards (Nacho Novo, Simone Bracalello, Wells Thompson, Mamadee Nyepon, Bradlee Baladez and Dzenan Catic).
The Carolina RailHawks will continue the 2015 Spring Season with the addition of Catic and will play their next home match against New York Cosmos on Saturday, May 16th at 7:30pm. The full RailHawks home schedule can be viewed here.
