Carolina Mudcats News Release
Pearl, MS --- The series finale between the Carolina Mudcats and Mississippi Braves was canceled due to rain in the top of the first inning.
Luis Terrero doubled with two outs in the first inning, and Mike Costanzo battled to a 2-2 count before heavy rains halted play. With the deluge of rains falling, the grounds crew was unable to cover the entire field, which left a partial are of the first base line exposed. After about 45 minutes, the crew chief Gerard Ascani called the game off.
The game will not be made up, and the Mudcats will continue their road trip at Birmingham on Tuesday night.
Monday night's starter Travis Webb will pitch the middle game against the Barons on Wednesday night.
James Avery will start the opener of the series against Birmingham on Tuesday night.
