Carolina Core FC News Release
HIGH POINT, N.C. - Carolina Core FC today announced that the club has signed forward Tyler Freeman to a contract for the 2024 season.
Freeman, 21, joins CCFC to continue his career after spending the past season with both, the Birmingham Legion FC and fellow MLS NEXT Pro team Huntsville City FC.
The cultured forward started making a name for himself at a young age, standing out in the Sporting Kansas City Youth Academy. At the age of 15 years old, he became the second youngest player in organization history to sign an MLS Homegrown contract in 2019.
During his spell at SKC, Freeman found success not just at the club level but nationally, as he represented the United States at the U-16 and U-17 levels, making seven appearances and scoring one goal.
"Tyler is an experienced player that can play both in the forward and midfield position," said Head Coach Roy Lassiter. "He's a very technical player, good at going forward, and has an eye for advanced passes into the final third."
Following his tenure with Sporting KC, the former U.S. Youth International went on to play with USL Championship side Loudoun United FC. During Freeman's 2022 season with the Championship side, the then-19-year-old made 24 appearances scoring eight goals.
"We see him acclimating well to the system we employ, and we look forward to seeing how he can advance his game with us," remarked Lassiter.
After a summer transfer to Nashville SC, Freeman spent time on loan with Birmingham Legion FC and Huntsville City FC, making 15 total appearances in the 2023 season.
CCFC is thrilled to be adding Freeman, a competitive and passionate player, to their roster in their upcoming inaugural season.
