Carmona to pitch for the Captains on Tuesday

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains announced that the 2003 South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year, Fausto Carmona will be the starting pitcher for the Captains in their exhibition game versus the Akron Aeros on Tuesday April 3rd. Game time is 6:05pm.

Carmona, a 23 year old right hander out of Santo Domingo, DR, played for the Captains in 2003 where he posted a 17-4 record with an ERA of 2.06. He was a South Atlantic League All Star. He was also named to the Baseball America low class "A" all star team. His 17 wins were best in the entire Indians organization. Carmona was the first Lake County Captain to play for the Cleveland Indians. He made his major league debut on April 15th and defeated the Detroit Tigers. He was the first Indian to win their debut start since 2002.

Tickets for the game are on sale now at the Classic Park box office or by phone at 440-954-WINS. Tickets are $5 with general admission seating. The game will also feature Buck Night pricing where fans can purchase hot dogs, beer, coffee, and other selected items at the Captains concessions stand for only $1.

The Captains open the home regular season on Friday April 13 at 7:05 versus the Lexington Legends. The Lake County Captains are a Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and play their home games at Classic Park in Eastlake, at the corners of State Route 91 and Vine Street.
