Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (February 9, 2009) - Brockton Rox Manager Chris Carminucci filled a spot on his coaching staff on Friday night when he announced that former Rox Manager Ed Nottle will return to the City of Champions as Carminucci's bench coach in 2009. Nottle managed the Rox from 2002 - 2005 including the team which captured the Northeast League Championship in 2003.

"Early in my career, it was Ed Nottle who taught me what it meant to really manage a baseball team," remarked Carminucci who is the third manager in Rox history. "I really want to surround myself with the most knowledgeable baseball people, and here is guy who has already established himself with almost 30 years as a manager including four here in Brockton. What better position for a man who holds not only the game, but the city of Brockton in such high regard."

Rox owner Van Schley also highlighted Nottle's history in the game and the community. "As Brian, Chris and I discussed rounding out the coaching staff, Ed emerged as the perfect candidate," he said. "His baseball expertise and love for the city were just what we needed."

Nottle managed in the minors for over 25 years. His resume includes stops in two countries and 9 different states and provinces during his career with more than 1,300 wins. In 1981, Baseball America named him the Minor League Manager of the Year, and the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year while he was with Tacoma (Wash.). In 1987, while managing the Pawtucket Red Sox, he was named the International League Manager of the Year.

Brockton Rox baseball begins again on Thursday, May 28th when the Rox open up the 2009 schedule against the defending Can-Am League champion Sussex Skyhawks. Opening night is presented by CVS/pharmacy and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Season tickets, mini-plans, flex packs, and group outings are available now through the Rox front office at (508) 559-7000.
