New Jersey Cardinals News Release
This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (17-16) topped the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates), 10-1, to go over .500 for the first time since June 20. Michael Parisi (3-2) earned his third straight victory and Kyle Bloom (0-2) picked up the loss for the Crosscutters (13-21). The Cardinals have now won 6 of their last 7 games.
Sean Dobson and Matt Shepherd led the Cards to their first 10 run effort since August 25, 2003, when they scored 11 runs in a win at Brooklyn. Dobson went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Shepherd was 2-for-3 and scored a run in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings. Steve Sherman contributed with a 3 RBI performance, as Casey Grimm and Brady Toops also had multi RBI outings. Starting pitcher Michael Parisi went 7 innings giving up 1 run on just 5 hits, while striking out 8. Jaymes Torres pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief to close out the victory.
The Cards finish up their five-game home stand tomorrow night at 5:00 pm when they conclude a two-game set with the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates). Franklin Sussex Auto Mall and the New Jersey Herald sponsor a Monster Truck Crush, and post-game is Family Catch on the Field and Girl Scout Sleepover Night at the ballpark. The club then begins a season-high 6-game road trip that includes 3-game stops in Williamsport and Mahoning Valley.
