
Cards Fall Short in Loss to Muckdogs

New Jersey Cardinals News Release
This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) lost to the Batavia Muckdogs (Philadelphia Phillies) 3-1. New Jersey drops to 31-40 as the Muckdogs go to 28-44. Darin Ziegler (1-0) picked up his 1st win for the Muckdogs as Joe Van Gorder takes the loss (0-2) for the Cardinals. Van Gorder pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits 3 earned runs, walked 2 while striking out 4.
The Cardinals only scored 1 run which came in the bottom of the 5th. In the 5th inning with one out Daylon Monette singled. Joe Mather also singled and Monette stole third base while Mather stole second base. Matt Pagnozzi grounded out to second to bring in Monette. Kevin Estrada made the last out by grounding out to the pitcher and that was all for the Cardinals.
Daylon Monette went 1-3 with a stolen base and 1 run scored. Joe Mather was 1-3 with a stolen base. Matt Pagnozzi went 0-3 but with the Cardinals only RBI.
The Cardinals end their home stand tomorrow night at 5pm with the Batavia Muckdogs. It will be the Pepsi Cola Race Around The Bases. The Cardinals head for Staten Island to face the Yankees on Monday September 1st and come back for their final home game against the Staten Island Yankees on Tuesday September 2nd. The Cardinals will be going back to Staten Island for the last game of the season.
