Cardinals Swept by Cyclones in Doubleheader

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones, 1-0 and 3-1 in a doubleheader. The Cardinals drop to 7-16 on the season, and the Cyclones improve to 18-5. Dennis Dove (0-1) took the loss in the first game for the Cardinals and James Mondesir fell to 0-2 with a loss in game two. Brooklyns Ryan Danly (1-0) picked up the win in the first game for the Cyclones and Robert Paulk picked up his seventh save. In game two, the CyclonesBryan King got the win and the save went to Carlos Muniz.

Casey Grimm hit a single in the first game against Mike Stanton and Kainoa Obrey had a double for the Cardinals. In game two, the Cardinals were lead by Melvin Falu with four hits, a stolen base and a run scored. Falu scored on a wild pitch from Brooklyns Greg Ramirez in the third inning of game two.

The Cardinals will take on the Cyclones again tomorrow at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn at 7 p.m. New Jersey then heads to Jamestown for a three game series against the Jammers. The Cardinals return home on July 15th, for a three game homestand against the Williamsport Crosscutters.
