Berkshire Black Bears News Release

A pitchers duel between Berkshire starter Dan Henderson and Allentown ace John Dillinger provided some of the best baseball of the season from both teams. The Ambassadors broke the scoreless deadlock; Vic Davilla's RBI double gave Allentown a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning. That scoreline would hold up until the bottom of the ninth. The tables were set for a dramatic finale and the bottom half of the Black Bears' order did not disappoint. With two outs and Orlando Encarnacion in to close, Brady Williams slapped a double into left-center field. Tito Cruz followed with a deep shot to the gap in right-center, just past the fully extended reach of Allentown centerfielder Dan Singletary, which tied the game as Williams scored easily.

Cruz was then lifted from the game with a slight hamstring injury, and Mack Paciorek came in to run for the Berkshire shortstop. With the save blown, and Encarnacion laboring, Black Bears' catcher Chris Briones absolutely crushed a 1-1 fastball to the track in right-center to end the game in walk-off fashion. Eddie Aucoin (2-0) got the win, throwing three scoreless innings of relief as the boys from Pittsfield took 3-of-4 from Allentown and went 5-2 on the home stand. Dillinger went 8 shutout innings, striking out 9 in the no-decision. Berkshire next travels to Elmira for a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, series with the divisional rival Pioneers. The next home game is Friday, June 13th vs. North Shore at Wahconah.
