
Captains Pitch Second Straight Shutout

(Eastlake, OH) - Captains pitching continued to be outstanding as they pitched their second shutout in as many days beating the Hagerstown Suns 2-0. Three Captains pitchers combined for the three hitter. Over their last 27 innings, the Captains have given up only one run on ten hits. The Captains scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out Adam White singled and stole second base. Roman Pena doubled down the right field line to score White and the Captains led 1-0. The Captains added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Pena reached on a two base throwing error by the third baseman. He scored two batters later when Jeff Hehr singled to center. That was all the Captains got and all they needed.
Captains starter Ryan Miller was outstanding going six shutout innings scattering three hits, walking two and striking out a season high personal best seven batters. Josh Judy pitched two hitless, scoreless innings of relief striking out two. Vinnie Pestano pitched scoreless, hitless ninth on his way to his fourth save of the year.
The Captains and the Hagerstown Suns continue the weekend series on Saturday at 1:00 PM. RHP Santo Frias (0-0, 4.50) gets the start for the Captains against the Suns RHP Brad Peacock (0-0, 3.60). The game can also be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM.
Saturday is Eastlake Appreciation Day. Eastlake residents can purchase tickets at city hall for only $1 with all proceeds going to the stadium debt relief fund. Mayor Ted Andrzejewski will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Sunday marks the return of the Plevin & Gallucci Family Fun Days. All fans can enjoy a pre-game autograph session with Captains players, and concourse entertainment such as a balloon artist and a magician. After the game all kids get to run the bases presented by Andrews Osborne Academy.
