With the 2015 MLB Rule IV Player Draft in the rearview mirror, we'll take a look at how all the former Blue Anchor players are playing in the minor leagues.
Blake Bass, RHP, 2014
Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the eighth round this year, Bass was assigned to short-season A ball in the Northwest League with the Spokane Indians. This season, the tall righty has an 0-1 record with a 2.70 ERA in three games. He has struck out four batters in 3.1 innings.
Albert Baur, 1B, 2013
Baur was a Northwoods League All Star for the Blue Anchors in 2013 and was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 28th round in 2015. He is playing in the short-season A New York-Penn League for the West Virginia Black Bears. Through seven games, he has a .310 average and three doubles.
Roman Collins, OF, 2014
The Kansas City Royals made Collins the highest-ever drafted player in Blue Anchor history scooping him up in the fifth round. He is playing for the Idaho Falls Chukars in the rookie-level Pioneer League. In 12 games this season, he his hitting .306 with a .407 on-base percentage. He has three doubles and a triple and eight RBI.
Onas Farfan, LHP, 2014
The Minnesota native was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round of the 2014 draft. Farfan pitched in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League last year but he had Tommy John Surgery on February 11th, 2015 and will miss the entire season.
Kris Goodman, 3B, 2013-14
A fan favorite in Alexandria, Goodman was selected in the 32nd round of the 2015 draft by the Miami Marlins. An outfielder at the University of Iowa, he has moved to the infield and is playing third base. He has a .154 average in just five games and he has contributed with a .353 OBP. He hit his first professional homer in his second game of the season for the Gulf Coast League Marlins.
Drew Hasler, RHP, 2015
Hasler was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 34th round this season. The right-handed pitcher has a 3.18 ERA in 5.2 innings with five strikeouts. He is pitching for the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League.
Jamie Ritchie, C, 2013
This season, Ritchie has been on fire. He is was named to Low-A Midwest League All Star game this season as a member of the Quad Cities River Bandits. So far this season he has a .261 average and three homers. In 62 games, Ritchie has shown a patient eye with 64 walks. He was the 12th round selection of the Houston Astros in 2014.
Andrew Sohn, UTL, 2013
Sohn has played around the infield this season for the Peoria Chiefs, a member of the Midwest League. Picked by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 6th round of the 2014 draft, he is hitting .199 with a homer and 19 RBI in 53 games.
Andrew Thome, RHP, 2014
After going un-drafted, Thome signed a free-agent contract with the Houston Astros. He is yet to pitch in a game this season.
Kevin Walsh, RHP, 2014
The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Kevin Walsh in the 21st round this year. He is pitching for the Gulf Coast League Phillies. He has one save and a 6.75 ERA in 1.1 innings with one strikeout.
Jason Zgardowski, RHP, 2014
"Z" has his Blue Anchor teammates called him, was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies out of the Northwoods League Big League Dream Showcase in 2014. He has pitched for both the Lakewood BlueClaws in the Low-A South Atlantic League and the Williamsport Crosscutters in the New York-Penn League. Combined he has a 2-1 record and 3.82 ERA with two saves. In 30.2 innings, he has 28 strikeouts.

Upcoming Games:
The Anchors hit the road for two games in Duluth on July 3rd and 4th. They return home on the 5th to take on the Madison Mallards. It's Faith in Baseball Night presented by Thrivent Financial at Knute Nelson Memorial Park. The Blue Anchors will be be giving away the HARDCORE Tribute Bat to an Alexandria-area youth baseball player who has shown perseverance in the face of hardship. Fans are also able to win Minnesota Twins autographed prizes courtesy of Hardball Hotel. Game time is 5:05 pm.
On June 6th the Anchors wrap up their series with the Mallards at 7:05 pm. The first 250 fans will receive Blue Anchor trading cards courtesy of American National Bank.
