Captains Beat Crawdads, Dads' Still Finish Homestand 6-2

Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads lost to the Lake County Captains, 8-3, on Saturday at L.P. Frans Stadium. Despite the loss, Hickory still finished the homestand with a 6-2 record, which included a franchise record 10 game win streak.

Jared Keel blasted a solo bomb to left to open up the scoring in the 2nd inning. Keel's homer made it 1-0 Hickory.

Cirilo Cumberbatch, who hit 3 HR's Friday night, led off the 3rd with a solo HR to left, his 4th homer in 5 AB's. Lake County added another run in the inning to pull ahead 2-1.

The Captains scored 2 runs in each inning in succession from the 6th through the 8th. Jared Keel hit another homer to left in the 7th, his 16th of the year. Keel now has 3 multi-HR games this season.

Jared Hughes (7-7) took the loss for Hickory. Jeanmar Gomez (10-6) earned the win for Lake County.

After an off day on Sunday, the Crawdads begin an 8-game road trip on Monday in Charleston, SC. Matt McSwain is scheduled to start for Hickory. All games can be heard live on WMNC 92.1 FM.
