Madison Capitols News Release
Coming off of the team's home opening win last Friday, the Capitols return home this weekend to face off against a pair of Eastern Conference opponents. The team welcomes the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday and the Chicago Steel Saturday.
The Caps enter the weekend with a record of 1-2-0-0 with two points tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The two points came in the Capitols last game where they took down Dubuque by a score of 5-3.
Madison faces off against Green Bay on Friday night. This will be the first between the two sides in the regular season. The Gamblers enter the weekend with a record of 2-2-0-0 taking down Chicago in their last game on Saturday night. Although the game will be the first in the regular season between the two sides, the Caps and Gamblers met for a pair of games in the preseason with each team winning one of the games. Madison won six of the eleven matchups against Green Bay last season.
Capitols Head Coach and General Manager Corey Leivermann had the following to say about the Caps matchup with Green Bay.
"I think any time that the Madison Capitols and the Green Bay Gamblers play, it's going to be a rivalry game. Speaking with their head coach with our identities, both of us show our abilities in competing. I think it comes down to goaltending and who makes the plays at the right time. [The preseason series] was a good test for us, but the regular season is the regular season. Everything matters now."
The first 500 fans in the door on Friday night will receive a Ryan Suter Bobblehead so be sure to show up early to guarantee your bobblehead.
Then, on Saturday, the Capitols host Chicago. The Steel enter the weekend with a record of 3-1-0-0. Chicago started the season with three wins but most recently fell to Green Bay. Chicago will play Dubuque on Friday night prior to the matchup on Saturday with the Caps.
Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena. Get your tickets at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
