Caps Pitching Tames the Toros

Tucson, AZ - The Edmonton Capitals (6-5) began their three-game road series in Tucson, Arizona with a convincing 6-2 win over the Toros (4-4). The Caps built an insurmountable 6-0 lead early, and Justin Jordan (1-1) did the rest, pitching seven solid innings and giving up just two unearned runs for the win.

Darryl Brinkley led the Capitals at the plate, going two for five with a homerun and three runs batted in. Jorge Cortes provided support finishing two for four with one RBI and two runs scored.

Grant Ledbetter and Todd Privett combined to finish the final two innings on the mound and limited the Toros to just two hits. For the first time in a number of games, the Capitals were able to build a good lead and the pitching slammed the door on their opposition.

The Capitals will take on the Toros again in Tucson in game two of the three-game series tonight. The team's next home game at TELUS field will be Friday, June 5. Faith and Family Night and a 7:00pm pre-game concert featuring the Christian rock band Run Kid Run will precede the 8:00pm game with St. George to be followed by the second edition of Friday Night Fireworks.
