Madison Capitols News Release

Fresh off their road sweep over the Team USA U17s, the Madison Capitols (5-1-1) look to extend their current winning streak this weekend as the Muskegon Lumberjacks (1-3-1) tumble in to town.

Friday's bout with Muskegon will be played on the second $1 beer night of the season while Saturday's series finale is Pucks 'N' Paws night, presented by VCA Veterinary Emergency Services, at Bob Suter's Capitols Ice Arena.

The Capitols are off to one of their best starts in franchise history rattling off 5 consecutive victories after starting the season 0-1-1. Over the course of their winning streak, the Capitols are averaging a healthy 5.8 goals per game. Madison will look to continue their hot scoring against a lumberjacks team that has yielded 4.8 goals per game to start the season.

The Caps have had strong scoring on all sides of the puck. Forwards Jack Musa and Kyle Kukkonen lead all Capitol offensemen with eight points each. The defensive pair of Luke Mittelstadt and Ben Dexheimer have combined for 11 points over the first seven games.

Madison has been backstopped by strong goaltending in Omaha Mavericks commit, Simon Latkoczy and rookie netminder Marino Ramirez. Latkoczy's four wins is tied for second among USHL goaltenders while Ramirez's 0.99 GAA ranks second in the USHL.

This weekend's home series games are slated for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop both night's.
