The West Michigan Whitecaps were beaten by the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4-3, in ten innings on Sunday afternoon in Iowa. The Kernels have now defeated the Whitecaps in the first three games of the series as the 'Caps have dropped four in a row overall.

After the Kernels tied the game with two in the bottom of the first, the 'Caps reclaimed the lead in the second on Juan Francia's run-scoring single. The Kernels tied it in the third and it stayed that way until the bottom of the tenth when the first three batters singled giving Cedar Rapids the win.

Juan Francia paced the 11-hit West Michigan attack with four hits. Reliever Brian Santo pitched three no-hit innings out of the bullpen for the 'Caps.

The Whitecaps and Kernels will now conclude the regular season on Monday afternoon in Iowa at 3:00 Michigan time.
