August 9, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
Edmonton Capitals News Release
Wailuku, HI - Left fielder Todd Linden and catcher Lou Santangelo each hit home runs, while Dallas Buck had a solid outing on the mound, as the Edmonton Capitals continued their domination of Maui Na Koa Ikaika with a 7-1 victory on Monday night at Maehara Stadium.
The Caps have now completed eight games of their nine-game road trip to Hawaii, and so far they have a 6-2 record, bumping their season stats up to 42-27. Thanks to Calgary's games in Lake County getting postponed on Monday, the Caps were able to close within 2.5 games of the Vipers for first place in the North American League's North Division.
Linden had an impressive night at the dish on Monday, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored, while Santangelo went deep to record two RBI and one run. Pinch hitter J.D. Closser also drove in a pair of runs, while shortstop Enrique Cruz and the pitcher Buck each had two hits including a double. Buck also drove in Edmonton's other run.
The right-handed hurler picked up his second victory since joining the Caps, pitching 6.2 innings and only surrendering one run on five hits with three strikeouts. Buck is 2-0 in three appearances with a minuscule 1.15 earned-run average. David Davidson and J.J. Whetsel came on in relief to close out Monday's victory.
The Caps' successful stop in Maui comes to an end tonight with one last game at 10:35 p.m. MT, and they make their return home to Edmonton on Friday to open a six-game series against Jose Canseco and the Yuma Scorpions. The series opener is another Fireworks Friday presented by 92.5 JOE FM.
The Capitals are the city's most affordable entertainment option in the summer, featuring Edmonton's largest patio! Flex packs are available in multiples of eight for $48 less than day-of-game pricing. Individual game tickets start at $10 in advance and can be purchased at the Capitals Box Office (10233 - 96 Ave) during regular business hours Monday through Friday, at any Ticketmaster location, online at capsbaseball.ca or via phone at 780-414-GOAL (4625).
