Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI- The Madison Capitols rounded out their 26 draft selections over the two-day USHL Draft on Tuesday.
Tuesday's selections came in Phase Two of the USHL Entry Draft, which was open to players between the 1995 and 1999 birth years.
Madison opened its day by selecting defenseman Jordan Ernst with the fifth overall pick. The 17-year-old Bowling Green State commit tallied 21 points and 44 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Chicago Mission's U18 team a season ago. The Mokena, Ill. native also put up 60 points over three seasons for Providence Catholic High School prior to his time with the Mission.
The Capitols followed up their first choice with another college commitment in Jason O'Neill. The Skipsjack Hockey Club forward had 40 points in just 29 games. The Odenton, Md. native is a University of New Hampshire commit.

Some of the Capitols' other notable selections included brothers Simon and TJ Sagissor (Stillwater, Minn.), who are the sons of Capitols owner and former Wisconsin hockey standout Tom Sagissor. The brothers join Luke Manning and Jackson Cates as Stillwater High School draftees of the Capitols.
The Capitols also had a European flavor to their draft on Tuesday, selecting three players of Finnish origin, including Florida Panthers prospect Juho Lammikko. The 18-year-old spent last season with the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, where he put up 44 points and a plus-23 ranking. He was selected by Florida in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
For a second straight season, the Madison Capitols' AAA program also had representation in the Capitols' USHL draft selections. Forwards Matt Jones and Konur Peterson were selected in rounds 15 and 20, respectively.
They join fellow Madison locals Branden Suter and Mick Messner, who were selected on the draft's first day Monday in the Futures phase.
"Mick is going to be part of our family; we're really excited about utilizing him in the USHL and in some (AAA Midget) games as well," said Capitols head coach & general manager Luke Strand. "We also have some other players from our Capitols midget (AAA) program that we feel could be a good utilization up here."
The 2015 USHL Draft marked a very unique set of circumstances for the Capitols, who at this time a season ago were still in the "fictitious" state, as Strand stated.
"It was a different feeling," said Strand. "We returned a good roster and had a good group of people. We're going to get to add onto those folks. We had our eyes on a lot of things to make (these selections) come to fruition."
