Madison Capitols News Release
Middleton, WI - One goal a period was enough for the Green Bay Gamblers (7-6-2-1) to defeat the Madison Capitols (3-8-1-2) by a final score of 3-1 on Saturday night. The matchup was the second in the last eight days between these two teams at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
Green Bay kicked off the scoring midway through the first period, but the Capitols fought their way back 54 seconds later. Robert Bluger cut in front of the net where he fed a backhand to Carson Bantle on the back door to fire one top-shelf past Gamblers goaltender Jake Begley to tie the game at one.
The Gamblers regained the league with under three minutes left in the second period. Chase Brand and Kristoff Papp had a two-on-one opportunity, but Begley made a sprawling save to rob Papp of a tie game with only seconds remaining in the period.
An early breakaway goal in the third period was enough for the Gamblers to seal the deal on the Capitols as Madison couldn't mount a comeback.
Joey Lamoreaux (3-7-0-1) finished the night with 28 saves while taking the loss. The Capitols return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Dubuque to take on the Fighting Saint. Madison's next home game will be Saturday, December 1st as they team up with Middleton Outreach Ministry to help fill the nets with canned goods.
Don't miss out on any of the action this season as the Capitols embark on their 5th season in the USHL. Ticket packages, suites, and group outing are available now at www.madcapshockey.comor by calling the front office at (608) 257-2277.
