Edmonton Capitals News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals kicked off a 7 game home stand with a 5 - 1 victory over the Chico Outlaws Saturday night. All the scoring in the contest came in the first three innings and the Caps pitching staff took over from there. Daryl Arreola earned the win pitching 7 strong innings scattering just 6 hits and picking up 8 strikeouts for his night's work. Chad Blackwell cleaned things up with 2 innings of relief. It was almost five's across the board offensively for Edmonton with 5 hits, 5 earned runs and 5 walks off Outlaws' starter Jonny Bravo.
The Caps first couple of runs weren't pretty but they'll certainly take it. After a Brent Metheny walk and then an Enrique Cruz double, Metheny scrambled home on a wild pitch to get Edmonton on the board. Another wild pitch in the next at-bat allowed Cruz to score and all of a sudden it was 2 - 0 for the home side.
The rest of the offence came in the third inning thanks to a Matt Rogelstad RBI double, a sacrifice fly from Brent Metheny and an RBI single from Enrique Cruz. That's the 17th win of the year at home for the Capitals and overall, their record improves to 31 - 24. The Calgary Vipers were idle Saturday night so the Caps were able to close the gap for first place in the North American Baseball League's North Division to 1.5 games.
This 3-game series continues Sunday afternoon with another Family Pack Sunday presented by Dental Choice and 630 CHED. Fans can get 4 tickets to the game, 4 hot dogs, and 4 Pepsi for just $52. It's also Captain Captial Bobblehead Day. The first 500 fans will receive a Captain Capital bobblehead/toothbrush holder presented by Dental Choice.
The Capitals are the city's most affordable entertainment option in the summer featuring Edmonton's largest patio! Flex packs are available in multiples of 8 where you can save up to $48 off day of game pricing. Individual game tickets start at $10 in advance and can be purchased at the Capitals Box Office (10233 - 96 Ave) during regular business hours Monday through Friday, at any Ticketmaster location, online at capsbaseball.ca or via phone at 780-414-GOAL (4625).
