
Capitals Re-Assign Carey and Carrick to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned forward Paul Carey and defenseman Connor Carrick to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.
Carey, 27, played in four games with the Capitals this season and scored his first NHL goal on Feb. 6 at New Jersey. He has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 26 career NHL games with Washington and Colorado. The 6'1", 200-pound forward made his NHL debut on March 12, 2014, vs. Chicago and earned his first NHL point with an assist on Feb. 16, 2015 against Arizona. He was selected by Colorado in the fifth round, 135th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft and signed with Washington as a free agent on July 8, 2015. Carey registered 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 43 games with Hershey this season. The Boston native has recorded 127 points (55 goals, 72 assists) and 117 penalty minutes in 231 career AHL games with Lake Erie, Providence and Hershey.
Carrick, 21, appeared in three games with the Capitals this season and has registered six points (one goal, five assists) and 23 penalty minutes in 37 career NHL games with Washington. Carrick made his NHL debut on Oct. 1, 2013 at Chicago and scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 3, 2013 against Calgary. The 5'11", 194-pound defenseman registered 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) and 36 penalty minutes in 39 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. The Orland, Park, Ill., native represented Hershey at the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic in Syracuse, N.Y. In 125 career AHL games with Hershey, Carrick has tallied 68 points (17 goals, 51 assists) and 183 penalty minutes. Carrick was drafted by the Capitals in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
