Capitals Assign Sean Collins to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have assigned defenseman Sean Collins to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Collins, 28, has played in seven games for Hershey this season, registering one goal and one assist and six penalty minutes. He is currently tied for second on the team in plus/minus (+5). Last season, Collins recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) and led Hershey with a +29 plus/minus rating in 73 games. The 6'1", 205-pound native of Troy, Michigan, has appeared in two games with Washington this season and recorded three shots on goal.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has played in 21 career NHL games, all with Washington, and has collected three points (two goals, one assist) and 12 penalty minutes. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Capitals on March 17, 2007.
