KODAK, Tenn. - The hits just keep on coming for the Tennessee Smokies, and the duo of Russ Canzler and Robinson Chirinos. Each came through with a home run and three RBIs apiece to power the Smokies past the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx Saturday, 9-1. The win, in front of 4,017 at Smokies Park on "NFL Night" at the ballpark, puts the Smokies a season-high 22 games over .500 at 63-41.

The Smokies put up a flurry of runs early and often Saturday. With Tony Campana on second in the first, Brett Jackson doubled home Campana to give the Smokies the early 1-0 lead. Jackson would move to third on a hit-by-pitch to Russ Canzler, then score on Chirinos' single to make it 2-0. Brandon Guyer plated Canzler with a single of his own to make it 3-0 Smokies.

Tennessee added four more in the third to go up by a touchdown, 7-0. Blake Lalli led off the frame with a single to right. Chirinos immediately followed with a two-run home run, his 15th of the year, off starter Steven Hensley (7-9) to pad Tennessee's lead to 5-0. Guyer and Canzler would drive in the two other runs in the frame to give the home team the seven-run lead.

Canzler capped off the night for the Smokies' bats with a two-run shot in the eighth to put Tennessee up 9-1. His 2-for-4 evening was part of a 15-hit attack for the Smokies that also saw Campana, Chirinos, Guyer, Jackson and Lalli deliver multi-hit games.

West Tenn did not come close to matching the Smokies' offensive prowess as starter Chris Archer delivered once again. While he gave up his first earned run of the 2010 with Tennessee, Archer (5-1) would pick up the win by striking out six over five innings, allowing only three hits with four walks.

Archer's teammates in the bullpen were even more impressive. Newcomer Blake Parker, Oswaldo Martinez and Aaron Shafer combined to strike out six over the final four innings of the game.

Tennessee wraps up their five-game series against West Tenn tomorrow. Smokies starter Rafael Dolis (1-2, 3.74) will go up against West Tenn's Jarrett Grube (2-3, 2.44). Tickets for the 5:00 game, which will precede a post-game Christian concert featuring the band NewSong, are available at www.smokiesbaseball.com or by calling (865) 286-2300.
