Charlotte Checkers News Release

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Michal Jordan (MIH-kahl yohr-DAHN) from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the team has placed defenseman Brett Bellemore on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.

This marks the second recall of the season for Jordan, 24, who also joined the Hurricanes from Nov. 10-11, but did not appear in a game. The Zlin, Czech Republic, native ranks first among Checkers defensemen and third on the team in scoring this season, registering seven points (2g, 5a) in 15 games. Jordan is in his fifth professional season, after earning AHL career highs in assists (21) and points (25) in 2013-14 with the Checkers. Carolina's third selection, 105th overall, in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Jordan has appeared in five career games with the Hurricanes, all during the 2012-13 season.

The Carolina Hurricanes continue up a five-game road stretch on Wednesday against the Florida Panthers (7:30 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network).
