'Canes Announce 2009 Training Camp Schedule

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the schedule for the team's 2009 training camp, which will be based in Raleigh.

The Hurricanes will open training camp with player physicals on Sept. 12, and then hit the ice for their first official practices at the RBC Center on Sunday, Sept. 13, beginning at 10 a.m. The Hurricanes host the Nashville Predators in their first exhibition game five days later, with face-off set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, the team will host its annual Caniac Carnival at the RBC Center, the season kick-off event which includes rides, interactive games, live music and an autograph session with select Hurricanes players. The Caniac Carnival is free to all fans.

Training camp concludes with a team practice on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the RBC Center, and Carolina opens its 2009-10 season on Oct. 2, when the Hurricanes host the Philadelphia Flyers at the RBC Center at 7 p.m.

All training camp practices are open to the general public, except for Sept. 19 and Sept. 26, which are closed because of N.C. State football.
