
Canaries win over Explorers, 6-2

Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries (10-21) won the last game of their three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers (15-17) at the Birdcage on Wednesday night by a score of 6-2.
The Canaries were the first to get on the board. Dennis Anderson got on after being hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Abner Arroyo. Arroyo scored on a single by Chad Hermansen, to bring the score to 2-0.
The Explorers put one on the board in the third. Ryan Ruiz walked and scored on a single by Jorge Moreno.
The Canaries got another in the fifth when a double by Hermansen scored Arroyo increasing the Birds lead to 3-1. Chris Hall singled to score Hermansen for a 4-1 lead.
A two-run homer by Chris Weber, his first of the season, gave the Canaries a 6-1 lead over the Explorers in the eighth.
The Explorers were able to score one more in the ninth on a single by J.J. Burress, but the Canaries took the win, 6-2.
Aaron Garrison (2-2) pitched 6.2 innings allowing one run on three hits to pick up the win for the Canaries. J.D. Scholten (2-2) suffered the loss. Jason Cierlik picked up his first save of the season.
The Canaries will host the Lincoln Saltdogs for a three-game series at the Birdcage starting tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow night's promotion is a Whiffle Bat Giveaway presented by Billion Toyota.
