Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
(YANKTON, SD) âThe Canaries lost their second straight spring training game, this one to the Lincoln Saltdogs by a 10-3 margin. The loss came despite two shutout innings from LHP Josh Merrigan, a South Dakota native, who started the game on the mound for the Birds.
Sioux Falls plated all three of its runs in the first inning, with 2B Felix Pagan and DH Desi Wilson collecting the RBI following a double by SS Marc Mirizzi. That capped the scoring for the Canaries, however, as Lincoln scored 10 runs over the final seven frames. RHP Brian Matzenbacher was saddled with the loss, allowing five earned runs in two innings. RHP Doug Kohl was credited with the win for the Saltdogs.
The Canaries' next action comes Friday night at the Birdcage as they kick off the home exhibition season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:03 PM.
