(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A single off the bat of Salem-Keizer RF Andrew Cain that scored CF Chuckie Jones was enough to send the Canadians to their second straight loss out at Scotiabank Field, falling 2-1 on Monday afternoon.

With a light rain drizzling over the field throughout, Canadians LHP Bobby Brosnahan went five scoreless innings in his first professional start, striking out two. Vancouver manager Clayton McCullough would bring in Canadian-born RHP Nick Purdy to start the top of the 6th inning and his second pitch was crushed over the left field fence by Volcanoes CF Chuckie Jones to give Salem-Keizer a 1-0 lead.

With the Volcanoes leading 2-0 heading to the bottom of the 9th inning, Vancouver would grab a run when 2B Dan Arcila hit a hard ground ball out to Salem-Keizer 1B Joe Rapp who ended up hitting PR Eric Phillips in the back with his relay to second base that scored 1B Balbino Fuenmayor who reached base earlier in the inning with a single.

With the tying run out at second base, Canadians manager Clayton McCullough would show a vote of confidence to C Leo Hernandez by letting him hit with two outs facing RHP Keith Bilodeau. Hernandez was 0-for-17 (.000) on the season heading into the at-bat and smacked a single to right field bringing the tying run around third base - however, a strong throw from Volcanoes RF Andrew Cain was enough to get PR Eric Phillips at the plate to end the game giving Salem-Keizer their second straight victory over Vancouver, 2-1 the final.
