Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Everett AquaSox scored three runs in the final two innings to defeat the Vancouver Canadians 4-2 on Monday night at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Led by a 3-for-4 night from SS Drew Jackson, the AquaSox out-hit the Canadians 12-5 marking the sixth time in eight games that Everett managed at least ten hits against Vancouver.
Everett took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd when C Yojhan Quevedo lined an RBI-single to center field to score 3B Conner Hale. Vancouver responded with three singles in the bottom of the frame that scored 2B Ryan Metzler and 1B Justin Atkinson.
The score would remain at 2-1 until 1B Ryan Uhl sent a solo shot over the left field fence to tie things up in the 8th inning, spoiling an otherwise impressive outing from Vancouver starter LHP Evan Smith. The 2013 4th round draft pick scattered eight hits over seven innings of work before being relieved by LHP Bob Wheatley.
The AquaSox pulled away with the victory in the top of the 9th as both PR Luis Liberato and RF Alex Jackson came home on a single by DH Arturo Nieto to take a 4-2 lead. Everett LHP Joseph Pistorese was credited with his fifth win of the season as the Canadians were unable to mount a comeback. Wheatley picked up the loss after allowing two earned runs in two innings of work.
Vancouver (5-7) will host Everett (7-5) for the finale of the three-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. Canadians manager John Schneider will send LHP Michael Kraft (0-2, 2.88) to the mound to face AquaSox starter RHP Jose Santiago (2-2, 4.19).
