Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Everett, WA) - Canadians LHP Jairo Labourt couldn't escape the 4th inning as the Everett Aquasox built up a five-run lead and never looked back as Vancouver missed out on an opportunity to pull to within just two games of North Division leading Spokane on Wednesday falling 9-4 out at Memorial Stadium.
Labourt was dominant over his first pair of innings but ran into trouble in both the 3rd and 4th innings allowing five runs on three hits which included a two-run double off the bat of SS Chris Mariscal that helped plate a pair of runs chasing Labourt from the game. The 20-year old would strike out seven over his 3 2/3 innings of work allowing five earned runs.
Offensively, the Canadians would draw to within one in the top of the 5th inning as 1B Ryan McBroom hit a bases-loaded double that scored CF Roemon Fields (double), 2B Tim Locastro (walk) and SS Franklin Barreto (single) to make it 5-4.
From there, the Aquasox would be the instigator offensively as CF Austin Cousino hit a towering home run off of Canadians reliever RHP Andrew Case to put the icing on the cake helping Everett to just the third victory at Memorial Stadium in 13 games.
With the loss, Vancouver falls to 15-11 while the Aquasox improve to 7-19.
