Sussex 3B Jay Yaconetti's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning scored 1B Matt Weston from third base and allowed the Skyhawks to escape with a 4-3 win over the Brockton Rox. Each starter pitched well, but neither factored in the decision. Instead it was Sussex reliever Matt Petrusek picking up the victory to run his record to 5-1 on the year. He tossed a scoreless ninth. Brockton 2B Melvin Falu led all hitters going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in the losing effort.

Ottawa 18, New Jersey 7

The only inning in which the Ottawa Rapidz came to the plate and did not score was the fourth as they pounded out 20 hits en route to victory over the New Jersey Jackals and the series sweep. Ottawa 1B Jabe Bergeron led the way, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and three RBI. Surprisingly, there was only one home run in the game. New Jersey 1B Juan Tejada accounted for that in the losing effort. Rapidz starter Noel Baca was credited with the win. He allowed four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings to notch his second win of the year.

The game scheduled between Worcester and Nashua was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, August 1 in Nashua at 6 :05 PM.

The Atlantic City Surf got a great outing from starting pitcher Brian Rodaway and plenty of offensive support to cruise to an easy win over Quebec. Rodaway allowed one run on seven hits while striking out eight in seven innings of work to run his record to 7-5 on the year. Three different Surf hitters went deep in the contest, including SS Anthony Granato who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. 2B Brad Thoma also homered and finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI.
