This game has been suspended due to rain with Sussex leading Brockton 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning. It will resume Saturday, August 18, at 5:05 p.m. and will be followed by Saturday's regularly scheduled game, which will consist of seven innings.

The Grays got a home run in all three middle innings Saturday against North Shore en route to a decisive 10-1 victory. With the Grays holding a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, 1B Jose Velasquez led off the frame with a solo shot that catapulted the Grays to a four-run inning. Velasquez and LF Chad Gabriel each went 2-for-4 on the night to lead the Grays. Starting Grays pitcher Beau Dannemiller appreciated the run support, but needed very little, as he shut out North Shore over six innings while allowing two hits with a walk and four strikeouts. The Spirit finally got on the board in the seventh, when SS Jorge Perez scored 2B/3B Gary Roche on a sacrifice fly against Grays reliever Dan Sausville.

Entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Jackals starting pitcher Joel Bennett had shut out the Pride on four hits and was holding onto a 2-0 lead. But with a runner on second and one out in the frame, Pride LF Bryan Duplissie ended Bennett's shutout and tied the game with his 14th home run of the season. Bennett did escape the inning without surrendering another run, but exited after the frame and did not factor in the decision. After a scoreless eighth inning, the Jackals got down to business against Nashua Reliever Rich Garces in the ninth, taking a 5-2 lead thanks to three runs on three hits in the inning. Jackals reliever Kevin Fitzgerald picked up his third win of the season after pitching the final two innings and allowing no runs on one hit with no walks and three strikeouts.

Quebec 6, Worcester 4

Capitales SS Ivan Naccarata batted in three runs and scored twice in Quebec's 6-4 win over Worcester. Naccarata's 3-for-5 night brought his batting average to .301 on the season. The Capitales got on the board first, but after a two-run inning for the Tornadoes in the bottom of the third, trailed 3-1. But two innings later, Naccarata tied the game with a two-run double and later scored Quebec's fifth run when Tornadoes starting pitcher Junior Guerrero walked Quebec C Greg Stevens with the bases loaded. Quebec and Worcester each picked up a run in the seventh inning, making the final score 6-4. For the Tornadoes, CF Keith Beauregard went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Cutters starting pitcher Kevin Culpepper pitched six scoreless innings Friday night against Atlantic City, but left the game in a scoreless tie and did not figure in the decision. Culpepper allowed just three hits with two walks and two strikeouts in six innings. But New Haven County got more than enough offense in the late innings to beat Atlantic City handily. The Cutters exploded for a four-run seventh inning highlighted by two home runs - a solo shot by LF Henri Stanley and a three-run blast off the bat of 1B Chris Gaskin. The Cutters made the score 6-0 in the eighth inning on a two-run double by 3B Junior Zamora.
